Although, like all forms of bullying it is subjective to the recipient, we define cyberbullying as the following “Cyberbullying is the use of digital technologies with an intent to offend, humiliate, threaten, harass or abuse somebody.” Anybody can become a recipient of cyberbullying, regardless of how old they are or the kind of job that they do or what their hobbies might be. In fact, it is well documented that a lot of our favourite celebrities and role models also experience cyberbullying, often to an unrelenting extreme. The most important thing is knowing how to deal with it. Here are the top 9 ways to deal with cyberbullying if you’re being targeted: 1. NEVER RESPOND Do not reply to anything that has been said or retaliate by doing the same thing back. Saying something nasty back or posting something humiliating in revenge may make matters worse or ev...

You just sat your mocks and didn’t do quite as well as you’d hoped? Or you got better than expected but still want to top it? Well, here are some Do’s and Don’ts to help you stay cool, calm and educated… THINGS TO DO: PLAN. Planning is key to good revision. When left to our own devices we sometimes struggle to find the motivation to get off Netflix and actually do some work –  (speaking from experience here!) So, just like you have at school or college, draw out a timetable of allocated time slots to spend on each subject and stick to it! TAKE REGULAR BREAKS… AND NAPS!  You deserve it…. Our brains don’t work well when we’re tired, and revising can be exhausting. Don’t trudge through it, make sure you take a break every hour for 10 minutes, have a snack or ...

Time Going Too Fast? A Psychologist Explains What You Can Do to Slow It Down STEVE TAYLOR, THE CONVERSATION 6 MAY 2019 Sometimes it seems as if life is passing us by. When we are children, time ambles by, with endless car journeys and summer holidays which seem to last forever. But as adults, time seems to speed up at a frightening rate, with Christmas and birthdays arriving more quickly every year. But perhaps it doesn't need to feel this way. Our experience of time is flexible, speeding up in some situations and slowing down in others. There are even some altered states of  consciousness  (such as under the influence of psychedelic drugs, in traumatic situations, or when athletes are "in the zone") in which time seems to slow down to an extraordinary degree. So maybe by understanding the psychological processes behind our different experiences of time, we might be able to slow things down a little. In my book  Making Time , I suggest a number of basic "laws"...
